The Spot Teen Center offers a multitude of programs and events for teens. These programs include:
Volunteer and Leadership Programs
Community Volunteer Program (year round)
Ages 13-18 (Must be enrolled in an area school district) | Teens looking to gain volunteer and community service experience on a bi-monthly or weekly basis should consider our Middle School/High School volunteer program. The volunteer commitments that teens make in this program can be applied to school requirements for community service.
Peer Leadership Program (August-June)
Ages 15-18 (Freshmen-Juniors) | Teens looking to learn valuable leadership skills as well as gain community service experience should apply to be a part of the Peer Leadership Program. Teens will attend a monthly meeting, learn how to plan and advertise community events, and spend time as Peer Mentors at The Spot Teen Center. Applications open from April-May of each Academic year. Activities and Open Programs
Homework S.O.S.: Mondays from 3:15-4:45
Facility staff is available every Monday to assist any teens who need to get help on assignments, essays and research papers, and upcoming tests. No appointment is necessary to participate in this program.
Game Day: Wednesdays from 4:00-4:45
The entire facility comes together to play a card game or board game. Possible games include Uno, Scattergories, Fluxx, Forbidden Island, Apples to Apples. Snacks are served and everyone is welcome to come and join!
Teen Choice Movie Night: Third Friday from 3:30-5:30
Teens are invited to vote on Facebook for their film choice. The winner will be shown on our giant TV along with free movie theater-style popcorn.
Cultural Awareness Celebrations
The year is filled with different holidays and events that are amazing opportunities to learn something new and exciting! Whether it’s a New Years Around the World celebration, Women’s History Month Quiz Game, World Food Day, or culturally accurate representations of internationally celebrated holidays, there are always new ways to learn and enjoy something new!
The Spot hosts skill development programs on a monthly basis. Past Development Days have focused on a range of topics including Healthy Relationships, Cyberbullying, and Suicide Prevention. These programs are paired with a fun activity to facilitate discussion. For more information on upcoming development workshops being run at The Spot, email us!
